This Grade 1 math book from the “Arc-en-ciel” collection builds on the knowledge acquired in kindergarten. It reviews and extends all the concepts learned in KG3. This review helps students revisit concepts that may have been forgotten during the summer, while also providing a solid foundation for learning to calculate, think critically, and analyze. This math book develops children’s ability to synthesize information, observe, and reason logically.

Each chapter of this Grade 1 “Arc-en-ciel” math book comprises two or three sections:

1. First, a colored frame at the top of the page defines the type of activity and presents the learning objective. This presentation is intentionally brief, aiming to give children the opportunity to observe a mathematical fact.
2. Right after, practice exercises progress from the simplest to the most complex. These exercises are often supported by illustrations, which provide visual guidance and facilitate comprehension.
3. Then, at the bottom of most pages, short exercises serve a dual function: first, they provide a foundation and reference for mental calculation. Second, they encourage repetition, which is essential for effective learning, particularly in calculation.

Finally, evaluation sheets regularly assess students’ progress. They also offer opportunities to revisit concepts that require further consolidation.
