Description
Grade 1 Math – Arc-en-ciel
The Grade 1 Method Presentation
This Grade 1 math book from the “Arc-en-ciel” collection extends the knowledge acquired in kindergarten classes. It covers and builds upon all the concepts learned in KG3. This review helps students revisit what they may have forgotten during the summer. It also provides them with a solid foundation to learn to calculate, think critically, and analyze. This math book develops children’s ability to synthesize information, to observe, and to logically reason.
Grade 1 Math Book
Each chapter of this Grade 1 “Arc-en-ciel” math book comprises two or three sections:
- First, a colored frame at the top of the page defines the type of activity and presents the learning objective. This presentation is very brief, aiming to give children the opportunity to observe a mathematical fact.
- Right after, practice exercises are ranked from easiest to hardest. These exercises are often supported by illustrations that provide a visual depiction of the exercise, thus facilitating comprehension.
- Then, the bottom of most pages include small exercises that serve a dual function: first, they provide a basis and reference for mental math exercises. Second, they encourage repetition, which alone can ensure the effectiveness of learning, and especially in calculation.
Finally, evaluation sheets regularly assess student’s progress. They also provide an opportunity to go over the concepts that need to be reviewed.
