Description
French as a Foreign Language – Français Plus 2 Student’s Book
Method Presentation
The Français Plus 2 textbook is the fifth book in the Français Plus collection. This collection provides a comprehensive method for learning French as a foreign language (FLE) and is intended for students whose first language is not French.
The Français Plus 2 book is designed for elementary school students. It offers an active and dynamic approach to learning spoken and written French. Focused on motivation and the pleasure of learning, the Français Plus method helps students build and develop the skills required to acquire a new language.
This textbook from the Français Plus collection includes two components: the student’s book and the workbook.
Français Plus 2 – Student’s Book
The Français Plus 2 student’s book includes:
A) Fourteen lessons
These lessons focus on listening comprehension and oral expression, as oral communication forms the foundation of the method.
Each lesson is structured in six stages:
- First, an introduction presented as a comic strip, which the child observes while listening to a short recorded dialogue.
- Next, a replay of the dialogue, which the child reads using the recorded phonetic model as a reference.
- Then, a presentation of speaking situations and vocabulary. The richness and precision of the illustrations help students understand the dialogue and reproduce accurate intonation.
- After that, oral exercises allow students to reuse the structures and vocabulary introduced earlier.
- In addition, a short phonics session helps reinforce pronunciation.
- Finally, a grammar summary appears at the end of each lesson.
B) Complementary activities
Every set of three lessons is followed by a group of activities including:
- A poster reviewing all the vocabulary from the three previous lessons.
- A short poem.
- A song.
- A project to complete individually or in groups (photo–drawing–text collages, crafts, cooking recipes, etc.).
These activities aim to help children connect their French learning with their everyday lives.
