The Grade 8 “Textes et Expression” textbook is part of the “Le Français au Collège” collection.
The latter constitutes the natural extension of the “Arc-en-ciel” books from previous grades. It therefore takes up, deepens, and broadens the methodological principles that previously demonstrated their effectiveness.
The “Le Français au Collège” method for Grade 8 provides the following:
- Diverse, illustrated reading texts adapted to students’ psychological and linguistic development. They aim to develop students’ analytical skills and introduce them to expression techniques and figures of speech.
- Images to facilitate comprehension and oral expression.
- Work on various writing techniques to develop students’ ability to produce different types of texts (descriptive, informative, etc.).
- Oral comprehension and expression exercises.
- Cultural enrichment through texts and documents introducing big authors.

“Le Français au Collège” for Grade 8 includes the following three books: a “Textes and Expression” textbook, an activity workbook, and a grammar workbook.
The “Textes et Expression” Textbook
This Grade 8 textbook develops 9 themes in 20 units. Every unit provides the following activities:
- A text to analyze with accompanying questions.
- Two sections: one for expression techniques, and one for texts and grammar.
- An informative or argumentative text with questions.
- An oral expression page.
- A written expression lesson.
- In some units, a lesson on lexical concepts.
- Documents to promote cultural awareness.
