Grade 5 Reading Textbook – La Boîte aux Lettres
The Grade 5 Method Presentation
This Grade 5 reading textbook is part of the “La Boîte aux Lettres” collection.
“La Boîte aux Lettres” for Grade 5 is a comprehensive method for learning French. It builds on our methods from previous grades. The spirit, content, and pedagogical practices are thus reframed and extended. Our teaching methods emphasize oral expression, which forms the foundation for learning to read and write.
The “La Boîte aux Lettres” collection for Grade 5 is based on the following methodological principles:
- Priority given to oral expression.
- Class projects that enable group work, interdisciplinarity, open-mindedness, and collaboration.
- Narrative reading texts and play extracts suited to students’ linguistic and cognitive development.
- Further development of reading skills.
- Introduction to the internal organization of the texts.
- Studying the typology of a text: injunctive-prescriptive and informative texts.
- Development of writing skills through progressive lessons on different types of writing.
- Insistence on vocabulary enrichment in every unit.
The “La Boîte aux Lettres” collection for this Grade comprises the following three components: a reading textbook, an expression workbook, and a grammar workbook.
