“Arc-en-ciel” for Grade 5 is an extension of our methods from previous grades. The spirit, content, and pedagogical practices are thus reframed and extended. Our teaching methods emphasize oral expression. The latter is indeed the basis for learning to read and write.

- Priority given to oral expression.
- Short, interesting, and illustrated reading texts: narrative, informative, injunctive, and descriptive texts.
- Illustrative supports and definitions in the margins of the texts to clarify difficult words.
- Linguistic, grammatical, general knowledge, and artistic activities that ensure effective learning of both oral and written French. These activities also stimulate critical thinking and creativity.
- Phonics activities.
- Progressive lessons in written expression techniques.
