The writing copybook of the “La Boîte aux Lettres” collection for Grade 1 is based on the syllabic reading method. It provides a simple and logical progression of phonemes and graphemes. From the simplest to the most complex, we start from the letter to the syllable, the word, the sentence, and the text.

This book is an extension of our methods for KG2 and KG3. The spirit, content, and pedagogical practices are reframed and extended. Our teaching methods emphasize oral expression. The latter is indeed the basis for learning to read and write.

“La Boîte aux Lettres” for Grade 1 is a comprehensive method for learning French. It comprises the following components: a reading textbook, two exercise workbooks, and a writing copybook.

This book of the “La Boîte aux Lettres” collection for Grade 1 complements the reading textbook of the same grade. It thus provides a fundamental method to learn how to spell. It contains a systematic and fun approach to learn how to write in cursive, as well as practice exercises.

Dictation is also introduced through copying exercises: letters, syllables, words, and sentences.
