Description

Grade 1 Math Book – Des chiffres et des formes

Grade 1 Method Presentation

This Grade 1 math book is part of the “Des chiffres et des formes” collection.

The “Des chiffres et des formes” collection offers a comprehensive method for learning mathematical concepts across all Elementary grades. This book also extends the learning acquired in Nursery, both in its presentation and layout as well as in its content. In particular, it revisits and consolidates the main notions introduced in KG3.

Math Book

This Grade 1 math book is divided into six units, each followed by assessment pages. As a result, children can monitor their progress, evaluate their level of mastery, and, when necessary, review the notions that require further consolidation with their teacher.

Each notion is structured as follows:

  • The new concept appears in a colored frame at the beginning of the lesson. Each type of mathematical activity is represented by a different color.
  • Then, exercises progress from the simplest to the most challenging. Illustrations frequently accompany these exercises to facilitate vocabulary comprehension and clarify the lesson objectives.
  • Many of these exercises take the form of problem-solving activities, during which children learn to adopt a consistent logical approach:
    • First, analyse the instructions.
    • Then, identify what is being asked.
    • Next, write the equation and solve it.
    • Finally, provide a clear answer to the question.
  • In addition, some lessons conclude with algorithms that serve a dual purpose:
    • They introduce students to mental calculation.
    • They foster independence and promote effective learning, particularly in calculation.
