KG2 Method Presentation – Ata’allam Houroufi (أتعلم حروفي)
This Arabic writing workbook, “Ata’allam Houroufi” (I Learn My Letters), is designed for KG2. It extends this Kindergarten workbook from the Alwan Kaws Kouzah collection.
At school, children begin learning Modern Standard Arabic. As it differs greatly from the spoken language, it is often approached as a foreign language.
Teaching 3 and 4-year-old children to write Arabic letters in all their forms is challenging, but not impossible.
To facilitate this learning process, the method is based on listening to letter sounds. Through the initial sounds of words, students identify the corresponding letters. They are then guided through exercises to practice writing these letters.
For the introduction of isolated letter forms, the method relies on recognizing letter sounds at the end of words. Children thus learn to write the letters in another form.
This workbook therefore presents two ways of writing letters. Other, more complex forms are introduced later, in KG3.
